I know that we have some Longaberger collectors (or former collectors) on here and I was just wondering if anyone has the Bentley guide. I would love some info out of there, and also some opinions.

What is the Bentley value of the 1999 Corn Basket and also the Lid?

I am going to list them on ebay (to support my AG habit). I also wondered if you would recommend selling them separately or as a set. I know that the mint sets with lid sell for high $100s plus. My basket is nicely used (but no defects), so I'm wondering if the lid might sell better separately?

Also, I have a hostess booking basket, also from the late 90's, and I'm not sure of the name. I used it as a pencil/pen holder, so it's about the size of a cup like that, with a leather loop on it. Is this the Parsley basket (I know it was some herb)? What is the Bentley value of that?

    Thanks in advance. . . .

The parsley basket is a small, retangular basket with a rigid handle. There is a small, can-shaped basket with a leather loop and a rounded bottom in the current line. I can't remember what it's called, but I use it for pencils too.

Can't help you with the Bentley guide, but I know that when my step-mom priced it out a few years ago, it was heart-attack-worthy valuable. Problem is, Longabergers are like Lee Middleton dolls. They don't always sell on eBay for what the guide says they are worth. Search the completed listings and see what you can come up with far as pricing. Right now, collectors may just be itching to spend their Christmas money!

I would list the lid separately. There may be several collectors who only need the lid out there, and the people interested in the basket may be only interested in the basket.

I would also sell the basket and lid separately - maybe offer a shipping discount if the same person wins both.

I would not recommend using the Bentley guide in an effort to get an idea of what you can sell it for. I always thought they were very overpriced, and not accurate as to what things were selling for.

Search the completed auctions on ebay and that should give you a better idea of what it will sell for.

    I am a 3 yr + Longaberger consultant.

Ebay prices are way below the Bentley value; I promise you won't get near Bentley. I would do a completed listings search for what you want to sell to get an idea of what it is going for.

To be honest with you, the bottom fell out of the Longaberger secondary market about 3-4 years ago. Most people are lucky to get what they paid for a basket, unless it is signed by Dave, or super rare (I.E. May Series Violet).

I agree that you will probably make more selling the lid and the basket separately.

    Good luck. :-)

Yes, Miss Moo Moo and BeccaChris are the ones I was thinking of--just couldn't remember for sure. Thanks to all of you for chiming in! Any other feedback is appreciated. . . .

I do know that I probably won't get what I paid for them. I think that the corn with the lid was over $200 (but I used a hostess half price discount). $100 total would buy me a lot of dolly furniture, and I don't think that's unreasonable, looking at past auctions.

I don't see many lids sold (as a set or separately), so I was leaning towards selling the set, but I think that I will list separately.

I honestly think you might be able to get as much for the lid as you can the basket. It seems like people will have bought the basket, but go looking for the lid later on. If you have the protector I would sell it separately too.

And Miss Moo-Moo is right - the market fell out about 3-4 years ago, but now would be the time to sell since people might have gotten Christmas money and be looking for those things right now.

I wish I still had some LB stuff I wanted to sell, but I really like the things I have left. I would like some more pottery though, but can't give up my AG spending money to order pottery - LOL!
